‘Capable Of’ is a piano-led alternative-pop song about FEELINGS - very relatable. More specifically, it’s about not knowing who you are in the absence of human connection (in the classic liminal post-break up landscape), and figuring out how and when to reach out to others.
lyrics
If I had taken up arms
Before you took off your soaked coat
Would it have offered a glimpse
Of the depths there it grows
If I had taken the couch
Given you my unmade bed
Would you have figured the lengths
How far it’s willing to stretch
Without merit or need
Down too deep lies the seed
All my latch-less love
All my misgiven grief
Catch my heart in a fist
Oh it’s jumping at nothing
At false futures it leaps
Now I’m combing these greased streets
With vague ideas of you
Tangled up in these sheets
Oh of facing someone
Falling in/out of sleep
With all the love I am capable of, the love I’m capable of, the love I’m capable of
Oh the love I am capable of, the love I’m capable of, the love I’m capable of
If I had taken that train
Sweating at the station
If I had dropped everything
Without slightest hesitation
I can’t unknot the knots
Tied up inside of me
I’m just rephrased words
Endlessly on repeat
Oh and sometimes I’m close
But I’m mostly just reaching
I’m always of two minds
Now I’m devoid of feeling
All the love I am capable of, the love I’m capable of, the love I’m capable of
Oh the love I am capable of, the love I’m capable of, the love I’m capable of
(All the love I am capable of, the love I’m capable of, the love I’m capable of
Oh the love I am capable of, the love I’m capable of, the love I’m capable of)
Let it bleed, and I want to give in
Let it bleed, and I want to give in
And I want to give in
